Influence of Bearings on Motor Performance

For a rotating electrical machine, the bearing is a very critical component. The performance and life of the bearing are directly related to the performance and life of the motor. The function of motor bearings
(1) Support the rotation of the motor rotor to transmit the load and maintain the rotation accuracy of the motor axis;

Code and classification of motor bearings
Deep Groove Ball Bearings: Simple in structure and easy to use, it is a type of bearing with the largest production batch and the widest application range. Angular Contact Ball Bearing: The limit speed is high, and it can bear both warp load and axial load, and can also bear pure axial load. Its axial load capacity is determined by the contact angle and increases with the increase of the contact angle. Mostly used for: oil pumps, air compressors, various transmissions, fuel injection pumps, printing machinery.

Cylindrical Roller Bearings: generally only used to bear radial loads, only single-row bearings with ribs on the inner and outer rings can bear small steady axial loads or large intermittent axial loads. Mainly used for large motors, machine tool spindles, axle boxes, diesel engine crankshafts, and automobiles, such as gearboxes.

Bearing Clearance
Bearing clearance is the clearance (or interference) within a single bearing, or within a system of several bearings. Clearance can be divided into axial clearance and radial clearance, depending on the bearing type and measurement method. If the bearing clearance is too large or too small, the working life of the bearing and even the stability of the entire equipment operation will be reduced.

The method of clearance adjustment is determined by the type of bearing, which can generally be divided into non-adjustable clearance bearings and adjustable bearings.
The bearing with non-adjustable clearance means that the bearing clearance is determined after the bearing leaves the factory. The well-known deep groove ball bearings, self-aligning bearings and cylindrical bearings belong to this category.
Adjustable clearance bearing means that the relative axial position of the bearing raceway can be moved to obtain the required clearance, which includes tapered bearings, angular contact ball bearings and some thrust bearings.

Bearing Life
The life of a bearing refers to the cumulative number of revolutions, cumulative operating time or operating mileage of a bearing after a set of bearings starts running and before the first signs of fatigue expansion of its elements such as rolling elements, inner and outer rings or cages appear.
